St James MAD Youth
Are you aged between 7 and 25 and would like to get involved in a local drama society?
The award-winning youth section of the society meets once a week to play drama games, devise improvisations and mimes, and rehearse for events, such as the Bushey & South West Herts Youth Drama Festival, in which we have won many awards over the years. We also hold annual theatre trips to see top quality shows.
Juniors & Seniors (age 7 to 15) meet every Saturday morning.
Youth Players (age 16+) rehearse for different events throughout the year.
We would love for as many young people to be involved as possible!
Please get in contact with us if you'd like to know more about the group.
What we do
Our youth group is at the centre of our society. MAD youth members are a group have continued to go from strength to strength. Through our sessions we explore improvisation skills, stagecraft, mime and much more!
We compete in the annual Bushey Drama Festival and every member of the group also has the opportunity to perform alongside our adult group once a year in our January pantomime.
Encouraging creativity is a key component of our ethos. We try to keep the mobile phones out of our sessions and get the group to create their own worlds, characters and situations.
Our group spends enough time at school during the week, so we do our very best to give everyone the freedom to have as much fun as possible, whilst encouraging drama skills through a creative, open environment.
"Over the last 10 years, we have all seen these future actors, directors, producers and techies grow in confidence and form friendships with others through nothing more than a shared love of creating and performing."

Leader & Administrator
Since reforming the youth group in 2008, Greg has been a devoted advocate for the group and its members.
Cerys joined MAD Youth at the age of 14, went to university and then returned to help out with our Youth group and attempt to organise the senior youths to get them in gear for the festival.
Experienced, controversial, fun. These are just a few of the ways we would describe this invaluable member of our team.
